Needs & survival: keeping your mood (and pay) up
You juggle six needs. Let them slide and your mood drops — and a bad mood directly cuts how well you perform at work, which cuts your pay. Here is how each need works and the cheapest way to manage them.
The six needs

Every character manages the same six needs. The chain that matters: ignored needs → worse mood → worse work performance → less money. So the habit to build is simple — eat, sleep, bathe and have a little fun before every shift.
| Need | How to top it up |
|---|---|
| 🍛 Hunger | Eat to refill. Street food like Amala & Ewedu at Amala Shitta costs about ₦300. |
| ⚡ Energy | Sleep to recover. Working drains energy, so rest before long shifts. |
| 🫧 Hygiene | Bathe at home to keep it up. |
| 🚽 Bladder | Use the toilet before it gets critical. |
| 🎉 Fun | Do something enjoyable — fun keeps your mood from sliding. |
| 💬 Social | Interact with other players to keep your social need up. |
The gap we are filling
No existing Lagos Life guide publishes the actual decay rates — how fast each need drops, exactly what happens when one hits zero, or the cheapest naira-per-point way to refill each one. We are measuring all of this in-game and will post a full efficiency table here. It is the single most useful thing missing from every other guide, and we are building it.
Survival habits that keep you earning
- Top up hunger and energy right before a shift — a tired, hungry character earns less.
- Keep cheap food on hand; street food like Amala & Ewedu is only about ₦300.
- Don't let any single need crash to zero — that is what tanks your mood fastest.
- Spend a little on fun and social regularly; they are easy to forget until your mood drops.
